Après-demain SA, through its GeneRActions Planet initiative, is pleased to count Permafungi among its impact partners.
Permafungi is active in the recycling of urban organic waste in Brussels, and aims to add an extra dimension to mushroom cultivation.
Using natural substrates (sawdust, straw, organic residues) that are absorbed by the mycelium (mushroom seed), Permafungi is able to produce myco-materials. These will be used to produce fully biodegradable packaging as an alternative to plastic. These high value-added products have other potential applications: in eco-design, insulation, etc.
Thanks to this investment, Permafungi will be able to finalize the construction of its new 1400 m2 plant dedicated to myco-materials, enabling it to increase monthly production to 100 m3.
This investment is part of our ongoing efforts to offer sustainable solutions for future generations.
Melvin Da Costa, Private Equity Associate GeneRActions Planet, notes:
Permafungi embodies the future of the circular economy. Their visionary founder and innovative approach make it possible to transform waste into an asset for sustainable production.
